Arrest History in Morehouse Parish
The Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests people in the unincorporated parish, serves warrants, investigates offenses, and operates the local corrections system. Bastrop Police creates reports for city arrests. Mer Rouge and Bonita municipal law enforcement may create their own incident files where they provide coverage. Louisiana State Police Troop F and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement can also make arrests within their authority. The agency that wrote the report remains the starting custodian even when MPSO later books the person.
An arrest can produce four distinct records. The officer creates an arrest report and probable-cause material. Corrections records intake, fingerprints, a photograph, charges, bond, and custody. A judge creates initial-appearance and bond orders. The clerk opens a court docket only when criminal process reaches court. LSP BCII may receive a qualifying fingerprint event and later match it to a reported disposition.
The official MPSO Uniform Patrol page describes the sheriff’s parish patrol role. The image below identifies that arresting-agency layer.
The patrol record and jail record remain different, even when both belong to the sheriff’s office.
Four Morehouse Parish Arrest Records
Confusion often comes from asking one file to answer another file’s question. An arrest report explains the agency encounter and asserted probable cause. A booking entry shows intake and present or recent custody. A court file shows the charge that was filed and how it ended. A Right to Review shows fingerprint-linked Louisiana history reported to LSP for the person requesting their own record.
| Record | Custodian | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Arrest or incident report | Arresting agency | Event, officer, alleged offense, probable-cause narrative |
| Booking or custody entry | MPSO Corrections | Intake, charge label, bond, facility, custody status |
| Court case file | Morehouse Parish Clerk | Filed charge, hearings, disposition, sentence |
| Repository history | LSP BCII | Fingerprint-linked self-review across Louisiana |
For investigative detail, the MPSO Criminal Investigation Division page identifies another sheriff division that can create source records.
A request should name the producing division, incident date, location, and report or booking number when known.
How to Look Up Morehouse Parish Arrests
Lead with the channel that matches the question. Current local custody goes to the roster. An older report goes to the arresting agency. A filed charge goes to the clerk. A complete self-review goes to the fingerprint-based state repository process.
- Search the MPSO-linked LA VINE roster for current custody. Save the system identifier, facility, and displayed charge labels.
- Call MPSO Corrections at 318-281-9336 if the person is absent, recently released, transferred, or difficult to match.
- Identify the arresting agency and request its report. For MPSO records, call 318-281-4141 to confirm the custodian and delivery method.
- Contact the Morehouse Parish Clerk at 318-281-3343 for the corresponding Fourth JDC docket, and check Bastrop City Court separately for city matters.
- For your own statewide history, use LSP BCII Right to Review through LAPS fingerprints, then challenge missing dispositions with certified court records.
- Use the DPS&C telephone locator for state prison custody or the BOP locator for federal custody when the local roster is the wrong system.
Note: A current-custody search, an agency report request, and a court docket search answer different questions about the same event.
Morehouse Parish LA VINE Roster
MPSO describes its LA VINE “ROSTERS” link as a live jail roster updated every 30 minutes. The sheriff says listings include date of birth, gender, and race, while the VINE feature allows custody-event notification. State DPS&C says its state-custody feed updates daily. Those statements are not in conflict: the local jail refresh and the state corrections feed cover different scopes.
The MPSO Corrections Division page is the official local gateway shown below.
The sheriff warns that roster data is not a public or official record for republication. Use it to locate custody information, then verify consequential details with the proper custodian.
The statewide Louisiana VINE interface provides the search and notification layer.
Search fields can include state, category, first name, last name, ID or case number, and location. An absent result can reflect release, transfer, spelling variation, feed timing, or no current custody.
What a Morehouse Parish Arrest Record Shows
An arrest report is broader than a public roster entry. It may identify the agency and report number, event and arrest time, location, officer or unit, warrant basis, alleged statutes, probable-cause narrative, transport destination, and property or evidence. Booking data adds an intake identifier, fingerprints, demographic descriptors, charges, bond, holds, facility status, and release or transfer event. Protected medical screening details are not public merely because screening occurred.
| Booking number | Jail or system identifier used to distinguish one intake cycle. |
|---|---|
| Booking date and time | When Corrections recorded the intake, not the final court outcome. |
| Arresting agency | The office that created the arrest report and should receive a report request. |
| Charges | Allegations entered at booking; prosecutors may decline, amend, or replace them. |
| Bond | Type, amount, or status as entered after judicial or warrant review. |
| Booking photograph | MPSO publishes no general release policy; availability depends on law and custodian policy. |
| Release status | Current custody, release, transfer, or another status supplied by the reporting agency. |
A public result may omit sensitive identifiers, juvenile data, medical detail, victim information, active investigative material, and any record removed from public access through expungement.
When Morehouse Parish Roster Results Vanish
A live roster is not an archive of every arrest. Entries can change when a person posts bond, is released by court order, completes a local sentence, or transfers to another facility. First call MPSO Corrections and provide the name and, where lawfully available, date of birth. Then ask the arresting agency for its report and the clerk for any filed court case. Those records can remain after the custody entry rolls off.
For sentenced state custody, follow the DPS&C imprisoned-person locator instructions or call 225-383-4580 with the DPS&C number, or name plus date of birth.
The state locator returns housing and projected-release information when applicable, but it does not supply the Morehouse Parish arrest report or final district-court judgment.
Recent Morehouse Parish Arrests and Booking Logs
No separate official MPSO historical arrest blotter was located. The verified public route is the current-custody LA VINE roster, followed by Corrections telephone help and a specific public-record request. This distinction matters. A current roster can help locate a person now, but it cannot establish a complete Morehouse Parish arrest history or prove that a past booking never occurred.
MPSO does not publish a stand-alone records-division form, fee, email, or counter-hours page. Call the main office to identify the current custodian. A useful request states the record type, date range, location, responding agency, report or booking number, person named where needed, whether inspection or copies are sought, and the preferred delivery method. Louisiana Public Records Law generally allows an adult to inspect, copy, or reproduce public records subject to lawful exceptions.

Morehouse Parish Fingerprints Reach LSP
A qualifying custodial arrest can produce fingerprints and a transaction identifier that flow into Louisiana’s computerized criminal-history system at LSP BCII. The district attorney’s filing decision and the court’s disposition should later be reported and matched to that arrest cycle. Timing and matching gaps can leave a state record without the Morehouse Parish clerk’s final result.
Record flow: Arresting Agency → MPSO Booking and Fingerprints → LSP BCII Arrest Cycle → Prosecutor Filing → Clerk Disposition → Repository Update
For personal review, use the LSP BCII Right to Review through the Louisiana Applicant Processing System. Compare that result with certified court minutes. If a disposition is missing or wrong, follow LSP’s challenge instructions and submit the certified source record. A parish clerk can issue proof but cannot directly edit the state rap sheet.
Federal Custody Beyond Morehouse Parish
A person held in federal custody will not appear in the MPSO local roster solely because the underlying event happened near Morehouse Parish. The official Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator accepts a BOP register number, DCDC number, FBI number, INS number, or a name with demographic filters.
The federal locator image marks a custody channel, not an arrest report search. Federal case filings belong in PACER, while state charges remain with the Morehouse Parish clerk.
Morehouse Parish Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest records a law-enforcement action based on alleged facts or process. A conviction records a court’s judgment of guilt after a plea or trial. Many arrests never become filed charges, and filed charges can be dismissed, reduced, or end in acquittal. Always compare the booking record with the Morehouse Parish criminal court case before describing the result.
| Point | Arrest record | Conviction record |
|---|---|---|
| Created by | Arresting agency and jail | Court and clerk |
| Shows | An arrest and intake allegation | A judgment of guilt on a filed charge |
| Lives with | Agency, MPSO custody system, and reported repository cycle | Morehouse Parish clerk and reported state history |
| Possible next event | Release, transfer, no filing, amendment, or dismissal | Sentence, appeal, probation, or qualifying expungement |
Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and a booking charge may differ from the charge and result recorded by the court.
